Leo Windtner (CEO of Energie AG Oberösterreich)
By building our new corporate headquarters in the regional capital of Upper Austria, Linz, Energie AG is sending a clear signal. While operating successfully throughout Europe, we are fully committed to our home base in Upper Austria. Quite deliberately we therefore decided to keep our location at Boehmerwaldstrasse, which is rich in tradition. The 'Energie AG Power Tower' is positioned in the prospering area surrounding the central (railway BE) station of Linz, and represents our regional roots as well as our successful and innovative international operations. With the extraordinary appearance of our new headquarters we also contribute to the architectural diversity of Linz. The Power Tower's modern architecture is a representation of our progressive and aspiring group of companies. The artistic design of the high-rise office building makes it a landmark in the city. First and foremost, however, the Power Tower points to the future and sets a new standard in energy technology - it is the first office building worldwide that incorporates passive-house characteristics. All Energie AG group companies are joint in the Power Tower. The new workplace offers optimum working conditions to all employees and fosters the basis for a successful future.
Jürg Weber & Josef Hofer (design of the building structure)
We were guided by several factors when working on our
design: Firstly we had to make room for all companies of the
group in one building. This facilitates short distances and
optimum interaction within the corporation. The other important
aspect was to facilitate the sustainable use of energy. These
demands are met by the clearly structured high-rise, which is a
pleasant addition to the neighboring residential buildings. The
reflecting facade sections underline Energie AG's image of
open-mindedness and add aspecific touch to the fast-booming
area around the central railway station.
Wolfgang Kaufmann (design of the facade, interior and detailed planning)
Certainly the challenges in building the new corporate
headquarters of Energie AG were manifold. On the one hand we
had to put the overall building structure - as designed by
Weber/Hofer - into concrete architectural details, and on the
other we wanted to create high-quality and pleasant working
conditions for the company's employees. In addition we had to
develop the project in line with local building regulations and
the general condition of the building sector. We developed a
facade with a completely new technology, which integrates light
art. We designed clearly structured and transparent work
stations and, last but not least, we built Europe's first
high-rise office building with passive-house characteristics.
All these features underline the role of Energie AG as a modern
energy supplier.
